Thanks to this naturally musical setting, Jurmala has become a center for concerts and other musical life of Latvia, and a place where composers, poets and singers come to find inspiration. Building on this theme, the concept of the new hotel will also be rooted in the world of music. The concept was mainly music but nature’s music. The sound of the ocean for one is an outstanding piece of music. The rising of the waves and splashing into the water again makes some silences in between. The silences formed the two main structures of the project. and the curve platform rising from the ground resembles the waves. Another aspect that was put into account in the design process was the local musical instruments, and mainly “Kokle”. The texture and form again emphasizes on the wave forms and the concrete platform connecting the high-rise structures.
