The project site is located in a new development district in Yazd, and the client wanted a complex which includes Hotel, shopping centers, restaurants and concert halls, that make the project a landmark for the new district. The main concept was to separate different activities in a way that each of them function as a free project but the project look as a single complex. The building embraces Yazd’s culture and climate, adopting a site-specific landscape strategy that plays on relationships between interior and exterior spaces. Traditional courtyard was used in a modern way to fulfill the program’s need and to separate the commercial zone from the Hotel rooms and private space. Sustainability also takes on a poetic ideal emanating from the sculptured form. The landscaped ground ‘plane’ becomes the green roof, reducing heat (by adding mass and thermal resistance value) and cooling loads to the podium spaces beneath.
