Zanjan Hotel is one of the most challenging project that I have been occupied with in my career. some part of the structure was built before for an academic center but that project stopped and the client (which is a holding for the ministry of education) decided to change the function of the project into a hotel. phase one planning of these changes were done but another consultant and a new structure was added to the building. As they could not satisfy the client requirements they were discharge from the project and we started to work on the project. The First issue was to come up with a new physical program for some of the new functions like Ballrooms conference hall and etc. (because like so many governmental project in Iran clients will change their mind over and over again!) The other issue was that the built structure was designed for other functions, the ceiling height was not standard, the vertical accesses were not enough and etc. Apart form some of the problems that were said, we tried to come up with the solution for the facade looking at the Soltaniyeh Dome as a source of inspiration and focused on the details in the interiors.
